Graveside services for Lillian Mae Hestand, 87, of Tipton, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Czecho-Slovak National Cemetery in Oklahoma City with Hubert Plumlee (nephew) of Oklahoma City officiating.

Mrs. Hestand passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at an Altus nursing care center. There will be a visitation at the Tipton Funeral Home today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Burial is under the direction of Tipton Funeral Home of Tipton.

She was born June 15, 1925, in Minco to Howard Franklin and Mary Dorthy (Engelke) Moor. She attended several schools in Missouri, Oklahoma and California. While in Tuttle, she met Pocahonatas Poke Hestand and they were united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1946, in El Reno. He was a widower with six children and they had four more. At the time of her marriage, she was employeed as a housekeeper. They made their home in Midwest City. After her husbands death, she worked as a clerk at a general store in Tuttle. She later relocated to Tipton to be near family and spent 13 years working as a cook at the Tipton Childrens Home until her retirement. She was a member of the Tipton Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 5, 1967; a son, Samuel Hestand; a daughter, Barbara McGowan and her husband Bill; two stepsons, Bob and Ross Hestand; two stepdaughters, Peggy Tedder and Sharon Davis; one step son-in-law, Joe Zangari; three brothers, Archie, Ray and Leo Moor; and two sisters, June Moor and Elsie Hestand.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Putnam and husband Larry, and Carol Hesand, all of Tipton; two stepdaughters, Dora Zangari of Midwest City, and Pat Johnson and husband Jerry of Ft. Worth, Texas; one step daughter-in-law, Retha Trotter of Midwest City; two step sons-in-law, Don Tedder of Oklahoma City and Bill Davis of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Lucille Etheridge of Perkins; 14 step-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
