Cirill Curly Kovar Jr., 86, passed away in Amarillo, Texas on Monday, March 25, 2013. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Pastor Nathan Simmons officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. on Friday at Silent Home Cemetery in Roll. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cox Funeral Home.

Cirill Jr. was born on Jan. 20, 1927 in Strong City to Cirill Matthew Sr. and Laura May Kovar. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 where he served proudly until his honorable discharge in 1947. Cirill married Gloria June Rice in Wheeler on July 16, 1949. She preceded him in death after 42 years of marriage. He worked as a master electrician at C & J Electric, retiring on Feb. 1, 1999. Cirill was a faithful member of 58th Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Lynn D. Escamilla, Julie D. Kovar, and Michele D. McArthur; son, Karl D. Kovar; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria June Kovar; half-brother, Wallace Bud Kovar; and half-sister, Virgie Trent.
