Funeral services were held today at 10 a.m. for Della Louise Davis, 83, of Altus, at the Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel in Lone Wolf. The Rev. Erin Martinez, Jackson County Hospice Chaplin, officiated. Burial was to be at the Lone Wolf Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home. Della Louise Davis was born to Raymond and Jewel (Simmons) Osborne in Hobart on Aug. 17, 1929, and departed this life in Altus on May 17, 2013.
Della grew up in Lone Wolf where she attended school. She married John Louis Davis on April 25, 1946 in Vernon, Texas. He passed away on Oct. 4, 1998. She was a homemaker whom keep many foster children over the years. She was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Altus where she worked in the nursery for most of her life. She enjoyed embroidering, camping and baking cookies.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Bill Osborne; and a great grandson, Clayton Saucier.
Survivors include a son, Jim Davis and wife Susie of Cookville, Tenn.; three daughters, Karen and husband Jim Williams of Port Angeles, Wash., Pat and husband Ken Saucier of Altus, and Sharon Anderson of Mountian View; a foster daughter, Valerie and husband Ron Ungewitter of Seattle; a sister, Madeline Sells of Lone Wolf; 10 grandchildren, Penny Austin, Justin Davis, Kelly Caconatser, Courtiney Cantrell, Bill Kron, Denise Hobbs, Cheri Petzold, Bobby Saucier, Heather Horton and Jeremy Anderson; 15 great-grandchildren, Colby, Corben, Jaren, Erin, Savannah, Chancie, Chilo, Laramie, Talayna, Jacob, Emily, Jarrett, Daegon, Caleb and Landon; a special friend, Betty Hashigami of Atlanta, Ga. and many other relatives and friends.
Ruth Stern, 74, of Altus, died at her home Monday, May 20, 2013. Services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.
